What I think of social media?

This is an interesting topic, because of many reasons. My opinion splits in two - for and against. I have grown up using the internet, so it is nothing new and bad for me. Although, sometimes social media is something that I would like not to have as much.

I'm going to start with the positives, why I am 'for' this. Many best friends, couples, soulmates have met through the internet. If you meet via internet now-a-days it is nothing shocking, but it would've been few years ago. Internet has really helped to make a start of these amazing relationships that have been made. These relationships wouldn't have worked out if people wouldn't be involved, but the social media is what started that. Also, many new living, studying, working opportunities are easier to find out about because of the internet. I wouldn't know a lot of things I have joined during the last year if it wasn't for this. Many people make a living out of social media, which is an amazing thing. Everyone has their own passion, goal, job career. The connections you can make with people all across the globe is phenomenon.

But social media do have few reasons why I am 'against' it. The hate. I know that hate is in our every day lives not just social lives, but on the internet people are more crueler, more meaner, angrier than they are in real life. On the internet people can say these things without having the ability to say them to these peoples faces. Social media takes away precious moments. Yes, it is okey to film some moments, but some are more better off left in our memories. I myself am guilty about this, because sometimes I regret scrolling through videos while instead I could've spent time with my family. I an turning things upside down this year and all the years ahead. A lot of people only think about money, numbers, publicity to gain that they forget what's really important. That at the end of the day these followers won't be there when you need someone. If they will, they won't tell you things that someone who knows you in real life can tell. It's different. Your friends, family are. As you grow older these numbers won't matter, but the special moments will. Another thing - kids who are born with touchscreen digital devices, whose internet is life is so troubling. I walk through my schools hallway and all I see are people in phones. Kids, like middle - school. It is so sad, but such a reality.

All in all, I do love social media. It has given people so many opportunities but at the same time has taken a lot away from them.
